"This new compact and lightweight lens has such a wide zoom range of 28-200mm that it can be combined with a normal lens and a telephoto zoom lens. This advantage allows the photographer to cover a wide variety of subjects such as sports, landscape, travel, portrait, - without the need to replace the lens With a minimum distance of 0.45 m to the photographed object, this lens has the highest macro magnification in its class.
The optical system used in the EF28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM lens has been upgraded for a new focal length range, with five movable lens groups providing a range of 28-200mm. A combination of aspherical lenses is used to produce high quality images throughout the zoom range. Focus with internal lenses, leaving the front lens stationary when focus, allows you to attach various accessories without interference. The optical system is made of lead-free glass.
The high class of the lens is emphasized by a silver ring in front of the zoom ring. For autofocus, an ultrasonic microdrive (USM) is used.
The EF 28-200 mm f/3.5-5.6 USM uses an ultrasonic microdrive to ensure silent, high-speed autofocus. Full manual focus is also possible, and the user can do it without switching the lens from autofocus mode. Thus, the photographer can fine-tune focus manually after a quick pre-focus."
