The best power supply that I had in my computer in terms of price-quality ratio
3 March 2014
Very beautifully crafted - matte black powder coating, the main cables (processor and "mama") are directly routed from the unit, which in my opinion is very correct - there are no additional transitional resistances, and THESE wires are definitely connected in a finished computer.
Quiet during office work and under load (GTX660). The fan may not rotate at all (at rest), at low load (300-500 rpm), which is practically inaudible. Additional wires are attached to the block; unnecessary wires are simply placed in the supplied cloth bag. Efficiency is more than 92% at a workload of 50%, which allows you to save energy.

Top pick with no caveats

Chieftec hasn’t quite nailed the high-end PSU segment. The company’s lineup has plenty of serious models starting at 750 W, but due to minor shortcomings and cost-cutting, few of them could put up serious competition to top models from be quiet!, Thermaltake, and Seasonic. The Navitas, however, finally pulls it off.

One of the most affordable options in the “1000 W + 80+ Gold” class

For $110, this model offers 1000 W of power, which should be enough for any overclocked build, 90% efficiency (80+ Gold certified), a basic set of protections, 4 PCIe slots, and the ability to partially detach unnecessary cables to make the case interior look tidier. Given the price, the only real competitor to the Navitas in the “1000 W + 80+ Gold” class is the good but fairly noisy Zalman EBT. Everything else will cost significantly more.

Will power up a system with four GTX 1070 Ti

But what matters more here isn’t the price, but the end result. Thanks to advanced circuit design and high-quality components, the Chieftec Navitas proved to be trouble-free in testing, steadily withstanding any loads of any type and duration. The highlights were a quiet ball-bearing fan, the PSU’s ability to briefly deliver 15% above its rated output ( 1150 W), and regulation that keeps voltage deviation on the main rails within ± 2% (instead of the allowed ±5%). The only gripe is the mere 4 PCIe slots, which may not be enough for additional GPU power connections. However, in practice it easily powered up a system with four GTX 1070 Ti cards with a mild overclock. And that’s more of a mining story than a gaming one.
