Lots of connectors for connecting peripherals. PCIe 8pin connector.

Affordable medium power computer power supply (500 W) with a classic fixed (non-detachable) cable subsystem. The manufacturer is positioning itself as a product of the basic price category, designed to power universal home and low-cost gaming systems equipped with video cards with a typical power consumption of up to 180 watts. It can be successfully used as a regular PSU of low-cost workstations (including those equipped with entry-level or mid-level graphics accelerators).

For internal cooling of the unit, a controllable low-noise 120 mm fan with a 9-blade optimized crescent-shaped impeller is used. The Gamemax GM Series GM-500 power supply is based on a simple and time-tested hardware platform with traditional circuitry that uses the principle of group voltage stabilization. The use of a reliable element base and sufficiently developed aluminium radiators allow the device to deliver up to 78% of the power along the + 12V line in continuous mode, operating with a current load of up to 32A (up to 40 A for a short time). The unit has a conditional certificate of 80 Plus and its efficiency at 50% load exceeds 80%. In addition to standard ATX 24-pin (20+4) and EPS/ATX12V 8-pin (4+4) cables, it is equipped with a cable with a PCIe 8-pin (6+2) connector, two 2xSATA+MOLEX cables and one SATA+ MOLEX. The block has a complete set of necessary protective systems.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Gamemax GM Series power supplies offer a range of models with varying wattages, making them suitable for different needs. Users appreciate the affordable price and initial performance, especially for budget builds. However, several reviews highlight concerns about fan noise and durability, with some units experiencing issues like fan whistling or burning out over time. The design and packaging are generally well-received, but there are complaints about short and poorly placed cables. While the PSU might be adequate for basic or office setups, potential buyers should be cautious about its long-term reliability and consider alternatives if noise and component quality are critical factors.

I don't recommend it
5 October 2016
Such a problem is not only in me.
Price, not noisy in the robot
Having worked without straining for 4 months on an old PC, the block is dead.
Maks Hokeyuse Gamemax GM-500 month or more i recommend it don't buy
good model, I liked it.

Cheap is suitable for those who need a good PSU
Efficiency: says that the power that it will give out is 400 watts
 i recommend it should buy
I do not recommend buying this living block!
22 February 2018
Bought a new one, worked for 1 month, and then the fan started whistling at ultrasonic levels so loudly that it was impossible to be in the room with it! Tried to lubricate the cooler myself, but it's completely sealed with plastic on both sides, and the fan itself seems non-removable, it’s encased with a metal cap instead of a retaining ring.
Garniy design of the living block and packaging + sockets for connecting cables.
Not a random cooler!

More accessible nowhere

The GM-500 from Gamemax is one of the most affordable PSUs on the market. Only frank Chinese is cheaper, which is as far as possible from the word "reliability". Outwardly, the GM-500 is no different from its counterparts in the low-cost segment: the dimensions, the location of the ventilation holes, the configuration of the output cables are all standard. There are no special complaints about the build quality. The body panels, although not the thickest, are not "foil" either.

Availability of PCIe 8pin

At the same time, it’s even difficult to say offhand what exactly they saved on here. The available amount of cables is enough to assemble an entry-level and mid-level system. There is even a separate 6-pin connector for connecting additional power to the graphics card, which in the future expands the scope for an upgrade when replacing a graphics card with a more powerful one.

Real efficiency of 75%

According to the passport, the power supply boasts an efficiency of 80% and an 80 PLUS certificate. In real tests, in the range of loads typical for this power supply (100 – 300 W), the energy efficiency of the GM-500 sags slightly and stays in the range of 72 – 78%. Given that this is one of the most affordable PSUs on the market (price is $20), you can turn a blind eye to the slightly overestimated efficiency.

Quiet cooling system

In addition, the GM-500 has a fairly quiet fan, a good output ripple filtering system, as well as a sufficient number of connectors for connecting peripherals (5 SATA, 3 IDE), which makes it an perfect candidate for offices and institutions with numerous working machines. . In this case, saving a few dollars on each power supply can result in a rather tangible amount in the end.

Of the minuses of the block, heating can be distinguished at a peak load of 340–350 watts.
