Gigabyte Radeon RX 7900 XT GAMING OC 20G (GV-R79XTGAMING OC-20GD)

A high-performance gaming graphics card from Gigabyte of the pre-top level, created for powerful gaming systems equipped with 2K or 4K monitors. The model is part of the Gigabyte Gaming line of 2022, equipped with a modified power converter for more efficient overclocking, and a proprietary WINDFORCE cooling system with three active fans with a diameter of 100 mm, a sealed radiator and an evaporation chamber.

Gigabyte Radeon RX 7900 XT GAMING OC 20G turned out to be quite large (length 331 mm, thickness 2.2 slots), so the manufacturer recommends installing it in full-size Midi Tower cases equipped with a power supply of at least 800 W. Positioned by the manufacturer as a more affordable competitor for the GeForce RTX 4080. In contrast, the RX 7900 XT offers more video memory (20 GB versus 16 GB for the RTX 4080), which is especially important for professional tasks and games using high-quality textures.

However, it is inferior to NVIDIA's solution in terms of ray tracing, and also does not have dedicated tensor cores required to implement DLSS technology. Instead, it relies on the FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 3 solution, which includes a software upscaler and an intermediate frame generation system that provides a twofold increase in performance in games with almost the same high image quality as DLSS.

FSR 3.1 and its subsequent versions are especially relevant for current and future AAA games using the extremely demanding Unreal Engine 5. The hits S.T.A.L.K.E.R., released in 2024, are expected to hit the market in the coming months. 2 and Black Myth: Wukong showed that even the most powerful and expensive video card can’t always handle them at 4K resolution and maximum graphics settings.
