The specialized controller by Hori is designed with a focus on fighting games and is licensed by Sony for PlayStation 5. Unlike standard gamepads, this model uses a six-button face layout—classic for series like Street Fighter and Tekken, where quick access to all attack buttons without repositioning the thumb is critically important. All six buttons are equipped with microswitches providing distinct tactile feedback and rapid response.

The left analog stick features octagonal guides—an eight-sided "gate," which helps in accurately fixing diagonal directions during special moves. The D-pad is interchangeable, with three options included to choose from, and offers adjustable sensitivity to suit personal combo execution style. Instead of a full right stick, there's a miniature slide pad—adequate for menu navigation, but primary control is expected through the D-pad or the left stick.

The Hori Wireless Fighting Commander OCTA Pro gamepad connects wirelessly via a USB dongle with a range of up to 10 meters or via a USB-C cable with a lock to prevent accidental disconnection. It features a LOCK function that disables some buttons during tournaments to avoid accidental presses. Two rear programmable buttons, a touch panel, a headphone jack, and a battery life of about 10 hours complete the package.
