An affordable entry-level electric guitar from the legendary Japanese manufacturer Ibanez, designed especially for those who want to play rock and metal without spending a fortune. As the Ibanez press release states, the brand is chosen by giants like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and guitarists from Slipknot, Korn, and The Offspring, and even the youngest models from Ibanez carry the company's DNA.

The signature pine fretboard with white shark tooth inlays immediately tells you it's a guitar for rock. The Ibanez GRG121DX is a classic rock instrument with an aggressive sound and an easy-to-play fast neck. The poplar body with a maple neck delivers a dense balanced sound, while 24 Jumbo frets (wide and high) allow fingers to press the strings effortlessly, simplifying the playing of solo parts.

Two IBZ6 humbuckers in an H-H configuration provide a powerful aggressive sound with high output, ideal for crafting heavy riffs and distortion. The three-position switch allows you to choose between the bridge pickup (sharp and aggressive), neck pickup (warm and deep), or both simultaneously. The fixed Ibanez F106 bridge holds tuning much better than tremolo systems on cheap guitars, so there's no worry about the guitar going out of tune after every song. The extremely simple controls (volume and tone) are perfect for beginners, avoiding unnecessary complications.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Ibanez GRG121DX is a stunning guitar for beginners and beyond, offering a combination of brutal and stylish design with a shark tooth inlay that adds charm. Users appreciate its quality build, noting that it is made in Indonesia, not China, and the sound quality is commendable with clear lows and highs. The guitar is comfortable to use both sitting and standing, with smooth tuning pegs and a reliable pickup switch. However, the glossy body tends to show dust and fingerprints, and some users noted minor issues like a loose bridge pickup and a rattling sound from a plastic piece inside. Despite these, the guitar is considered a great value for its price, especially when purchased on sale. It's recommended for those looking for a balance of price and quality, though potential buyers are advised to monitor prices for better deals.

A stunning guitar for beginners and beyond at a reasonable price
19 December 2024
I have had the guitar since January 2024, and I am completely satisfied. The design really attracted me - the instrument looks brutal and stylish; the shark tooth inlay adds a special charm. The guitar is comfortable to use both sitting and standing, the basic strap mounts do their job (but for greater reliability, it's still better to buy strap locks). The frets do not protrude and do not scratch the hands. The tuning pegs turn easily and without any unnecessary crunching, the same can be said about the tone and volume knobs, they turn especially pleasantly. The pickup switch also works excellently. Since this is my first guitar, I can say about the pickups that the sound is good, there are no complaints, and thanks to the two humbuckers, you can achieve a special tone. I also liked the placement of the anchor, specifically its protection in the form of a small cover (it has a cutout, so opening it is not a problem).

The body is glossy, so even a small amount of dust will be noticeable. Fingerprints also remain. However, despite a certain number of scratches, thanks to this color, they are almost invisible (you really have to look closely).
