Electric guitars

— electric guitars in this case include instruments with a solid body (without cutouts, as on a "semi-acoustic"), having at least 6 strings and sounding in a standard guitar range (sometimes slightly extended, see "Number of strings"). By itself, such an instrument does not provide sufficient sound volume, so it must be connected to an external amplifier. Electric guitars are known primarily for rock music and various areas of metal, although they can be used in almost any musical genre.
