Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm f/1.2 PRO - 2 Year Warrant

Pairing a sophisticated optical design with an exceptionally bright maximum aperture, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm f/1.2 PRO from Olympus is a versatile wide-angle, 34mm-equivalent prime for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. The lens's calling card is its fast f/1.2 maximum aperture, which suits working in difficu... morelt lighting conditions and avails greater control over depth of field. {Key Features}
- Micro Four Thirds System -; 34mm (35mm Equivalent) - Aperture Range: f/1.2 to f/16 - Four ED Elements, One ED-DSA Element 5; Super HR, EDA, and Aspherical Elements - Z Coating Nano - MSC High-Speed Imager AF System -; Internal Focusing, MF Clutch -; Weather-Resistant Construction3;- Rounded Nine-Blade Diaphragm
{Overview} Also, a complex 15 elements, 11 groups construction combines extra-low dispersion, aspherical, and high refractive index elements to significantly reduce both chromatic and spherical aberrations for notable image clarity, sharpness, and colour accuracy. A nine-blade aperture is featured as well, to achieve a smooth bokeh quality when working with shallow depth of field techniques, and a Z Coating Nano has been applied to individual elements to limit flare and ghosting for improved contrast.
 Beyond the imaging assets, the lens' physical design is characterized by a weather-sealed construction to benefit working in harsh climates. It also features a Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system for smooth, quiet, and fast focusing performance that is suitable to both stills and video recording. A manual focus clutch permits quick switching to MF control and a printed depth of field scale is also featured on the lens barrel for pre-focusing and hyper focal focusing techniques. {Box Contents}

Video reviews

The Olympus optics portfolio for Micro 4/3 mirrorless cameras includes a trio of ultra-fast prime lenses: 17mm, 25mm and 45mm. The first is a universal option for solving a wide range of tasks, the second is an analogue of the "fifty dollars" in the equivalent of a full frame, and the third is used in the portrait genre of photography.

feathered bokeh

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm f/1.2 PRO wide angle performs well in architecture, landscape and street photography. The high aperture of the lens is designed to compensate for insufficient background blur due to the reduced physical size of the image sensor of the Micro 4/3 series cameras. And the bokeh rendering is given to the model really on a solid "five" — due to the adjusted shape of the lenses and the 9-blade diaphragm, high sharpness in the focus area and soft feathered bokeh in the defocus area are obtained without the use of apodization filters.

Optical design

The optical design of the lens contains ED elements with extra low dispersion and double super-aspherical DSA lenses, which help to reduce harmful optical artifacts in the manner of chromatic aberrations and distortions. And the phenomenon of vignetting will only disturb the frame at the most open apertures.

Function ring

Hidden inside the lens barrel is a fast and silent autofocus drive. Outside are a programmable L-Fn button and a wide soft-touch focus ring. Switching between automatic and manual focus is implemented by shifting the ring towards itself. In addition, the model will please with its compact size and light weight (less than 400 g) — it harmoniously looks on the “carcass” of a compatible camera and does not change the centre of gravity of the camera and lens bundle.
