Unpretentious "working bee" from the category of all-terrain cameras. Judge for yourself, this chamber does not care about water procedures (with a maximum immersion depth of up to 15 m), falls from a two-metre height (more precisely 2.1 m), pressure on the body with a force of up to 100 kg. A durable double glass lens is reliably protected from fogging during sudden temperature changes. Inside the “off-road” camera, a 12 MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor is installed. Photos on the Olympus TG-6 are taken in JPEG and RAW formats. Also protected compact supports video recording in 4K resolution at 30 fps. The camera's built-in optics have a 4x zoom range (25-100mm full frame equivalent) and aperture ranges from f/2.0 at the short end to f/4.9 at the telezoom end. It is proposed to sight in th...e process of “building” the frame according to the picture on a 3-inch fixed display. The model got a rich set of communications in the load — it has a Wi-Fi module, a GPS receiver, a pressure gauge, a barometer and a thermometer. On one battery charge, the protected compact is able to stay afloat until about 340 frames are shot.

Video reviews

The Olympus TOUGH series of rugged cameras is built to handle the toughest shooting conditions. Cameras of the family, in particular, the TG-6 model, do an excellent job of photographing and recording videos in a dust storm, under water and endure drops from a height of up to 2.1 m.

Armor-piercing characteristics

The shock-resistant characteristics of the armor-piercing camera are confirmed by tests according to the MIL-STD-810F method. The camera also withstands pressure on the body with a force of 100 kg and survives under water at a depth of up to 15 m. Together with the PT-059 underwater box, it can be submerged to 45 m. Another important feature of the model is frost resistance (up to -10 °C).

4x optical zoom

At the heart of the indestructible camera is a 12MP back-illuminated CMOS image sensor. It is supported by built-in optics with a fourfold optical zoom — the Olympus TG-6 lens shoots in the range of equivalent focal lengths of 25-100 mm. Moreover, in the wide-angle zoom position, it shows a high aperture of f / 2.0. Photos on the camera are saved in JPEG and RAW formats, which opens up more possibilities in post-processing of footage.

Software arsenal

The software arsenal of the model has several macro shooting modes with a focus distance of 1 cm, underwater photography and video recording in resolutions up to 4K with a frame rate of 30 fps and a bit rate of 100 Mbps. The Olympus TG-6 sensor system records location data, altitude and depth, air or water temperature. Wi-Fi and GPS wireless communications are also at the user's disposal. One battery charge of an "off-road" camera is enough to take about 340 shots. The model will perfectly prove itself at sea, on vacation and during outdoor activities.
