Patriot Viper Steel RGB is a new series of luminous RAM from the American brand, which came not to replace, but in addition to the long-existing non-illuminated Steel. New items are presented by single modules and paired kits, with a volume from 8 to 64 GB and with a frequency of 3200 – 3600 MHz.

To each according to his needs

The younger version 3200@CL18 is best suited for building a low-cost computer on an Intel H510 or AMD A520 motherboard. Whereas the older 3600@CL20 is for PCs based on Intel B560 or AMD B550. By default, the memory runs at 2666 MHz. But by pressing literally one button, you can activate the XMP auto-overclocking function.

Cold metal

Patriot Viper Steel RGB aluminium radiators are painted black and protrude about 1 cm above the PCB. There should be no compatibility issues with most tower CPU coolers, but it's still better to check this before buying. The 16.7 million colour RGB backlight has five independent zones that can be configured separately.

Uniform style

Glow synchronization is officially supported with all major motherboard manufacturers: ASUS Aura, MSI Mystic, Gigabyte Fusion and ASRock Polychrome. Most likely, Biostar Vivid will also work. The test sample came across SpecTek chips, a subsidiary of Micron, with a moderate overclocking potential (+200 MHz). Inveterate overclockers are better off choosing non-luminous Steel on select Hynix chips.
