RGB lighting with flexible settings. Individual backlit keys. Macro recording support. Good (for a membrane keyboard) tactile feedback of the keys. Useful software Razer Synapse 3. Protection against moisture.

Quite advanced and easy to use gaming keyboard. So, the gaming character of the model is hinted not only by the appearance and multi-colour backlighting, but also by the polling frequency, which is at the level of 1000 Hz, which allows the device to read data literally at lightning speed. Support for recording macros (both software and hardware) is provided. The Razer Cynosa Chroma keyboard has a full-size 104-key layout.

All buttons have a membrane device. The key travel received an imitation of feedback, as in more expensive mechanical counterparts. The working surface of the keys is created using laser engraving. An Fn button is provided, which, in combination with other keys, is able to control the main functions of the media player. The Fn key is highlighted in green. As a backlight, RGB illumination is used for more than 16 million colours and shades, while its operating modes can be configured using proprietary Razer Synapse software. It is possible to assign specific keys that need backlighting — any button can be assigned its own shade. The keyboard weighs about 1 kg, which allows it to sit firmly in the workplace.

Razer imposes competition

Razer products have always been associated with the upper price segment and very expensive devices, but a couple of years ago the company began to attack the positions of competitors in the middle price range. The new Cynosa Chroma is the entry-level model in Razer's range of keyboards. This is a full-size keyboard with an improved membrane mechanism, general RGB backlighting and individual key illumination.

Almost like a mechanic

The main challenge facing the engineers was to try to mimic the feel of a mechanical keyboard using a conventional membrane base. However, not quite ordinary. The soft, bouncy keys here provide a comfortable feel and improved support compared to rubber membrane keyboards, so each press delivers crisp action. It is characterized by a full, clear and extremely precise stroke. Of course, the guys from Razer did not manage to imitate 100% of the sensations from the mechanics, but it turned out pretty close.

Powerful Razer Synapse 3 Utility

Perhaps the main source of power of Cynosa Chroma lies in the Razer Synapse 3 software. If most of these applications are very limited in their capabilities, then here we have a full-fledged keyboard command centre that allows you to reassign key functions, bind macros to them, save different macro profiles, adjust brightness and backlight modes, synchronize it with other gadgets of the company, and assign your own shade to individual buttons. Handy if you're testing a set of macros or can't get used to the controls in a new game.

Issue price

The main disadvantage of the Razer Cynosa Chroma is its high price, almost on par with mechanical gaming keyboards from Logitech or Kingston. However, to some extent it is justified by the company's traditionally high quality of materials, assembly, and the overall feeling of playing on it. And don't forget about water protection. And whether all this overpayment is worth it, everyone decides for himself.
