The three-person tent by Salewa is a premium-tier trekking solution. It is suitable for hiking trips, including extended adventures, primarily during warm seasons and in the off-season. The model weighs less than 4 kg, allowing it to be carried in a backpack, with dimensions in the case of 40x23x23 cm or a little over 21 liters in volume. The Salewa Sierra Leone III tent features a self-supporting (geodesic) structure, meaning it remains stable even without using pegs and guy lines.

However, these elements are also included in the kit to provide increased wind resistance (claimed readiness for gusts up to 100 km/h). Additionally, the guy lines are reflective, making them visible in the dark when using a headlamp or other flashlight. The sleeping area dimensions on the ground are fairly standard (with a width allowance of about 60 cm per person).

Travelers are offered two entrances to the rest area and a couple of vestibules—one 85 cm long and another 70 cm. The framework consists of aluminum poles, offering a relatively light weight combined with excellent resistance to temperature fluctuations and good durability. Also worth noting is that the model is well-prepared for precipitation, as the polyester flysheet has up to 3000 mm water resistance, and the nylon floor up to 5000 mm.
