Multi-purpose zoom lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras with a slightly extended wide-angle range covering focal lengths from 20mm to 70mm. At the same time, the maximum aperture in all zoom ranges remains unchanged and is f / 4. The lens belongs to the line of high-quality optics G. It was optically designed according to the formula "16 elements in 13 groups". The design uses two AA (Advanced Aspherical) lenses, one classic aspherical element, three extra-low dispersion glasses and one aspherical ED element.

The Sony 20-70mm f/4.0 G FE uses a quiet and fast XD autofocus drive to focus. In the wide-angle zoom position, the lens is focused from a distance of 30 cm from the plane of the matrix, at maximum zoom - from a distance of 25 cm. The lens has a thread diameter of 72 mm for filters. Its design is dust- and moisture-proof, the model weighs about 488 g. In addition, a fluorine protective coating is applied to the front lens of the universal zoom.
