Multifunctional 4K resolution SMART QLED TV with a large 54.6-inch screen, full support for HDR content, the ability to wirelessly play video from gadgets using Miracast / Chromecast technologies and support voice control. It is positioned as a product of the middle price category, designed for consumer multimedia and entertainment systems and home theaters. The key design element of this model was a 10-bit VA-matrix with a resolution of 3840x2160 and controlled backlight based on quantum dots.
With a full 30-bit colour display worthy of maximum brightness and improved contrast ratio, the TCL 55C725 TV can handle HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision HDR video playback. Android SMART TV system with TCL TV UI shell and built-in network adapters (Ethernet LAN + Wi-Fi 5) provide convenient access to streaming services, LAN resources and files on USB media. This model supports the connection of PCs, laptops and game consoles, for which there is a special mode that reduces the input delay. It provides decoding of high-quality surround sound in Dolby Atmos and Digital Theater System formats.
QLED Benefits
Introduced by TCL in 2021, the TV is one of the most affordable 55-inch QLED models. Quantum dot technology paired with Direct LED backlighting provides excellent contrast ratio (5000:1 ratio) and wide colour gamut for high-quality colour reproduction. Therefore, watching a movie with subdued lighting will definitely leave a pleasant impression.
As befits a modern TV, the TCL 55C725 screen not only reproduces content with Ultra HD 4K resolution, but also programmatically enhances the detail of a less clear picture. Support for all the most popular HDR formats, including Dolby Vision and HDR10 +, is designed to add emotions from viewing. But the relatively low peak brightness (330 cd / m²) will not reveal the potential of the corresponding content to 100%.
Ready for games
Despite the standard refresh rate of 60 Hz, the TV does a good job of displaying dynamic scenes: MEMC technology is responsible for smoothing frames. It is useful both when watching action games and in the gameplay. By the way, in the Game Mode, a low input lag of 15 ms is claimed, which should please gamers.
The speaker system in the TCL 55C725 is quite typical: 2 speakers of 10 W each. But the acoustics were developed by the specialized company ONKYO, and the Dolby Atmos decoder should give the surround sound effect.
Android TV
Expand the multimedia capabilities of the model under the power of Android TV OS with access to tens of thousands of applications, proprietary services and Google features. Among the latter, it is worth highlighting Chromecast and Google Assistant for voice interaction. Plus, voice control for content search is also supported by the bundled remote control.
The shortcomings of the TV include moderate viewing angles (it is better for the viewer to be directly in front of the screen) and not perfect colour accuracy out of the box (it is solved by manually adjusting the picture parameters). Minus TCL 55C725 is not the most modern Wi-Fi 4 module: its speed may not be enough for streaming 4K video. Otherwise, the model is one of the best Android TVs in its price segment.
