The Linton speaker from the British company Wharfedale is part of the Heritage series and was released for the 85th anniversary of the company. From English Heritage is translated as "legacy", so Linton inherited all the best from the golden age of Hi-Fi.

Successful offspring

The original Linton debuted in 1965 and was produced until the late 70s. The new Linton has a clear family resemblance. This is the same three-way speaker system in a wooden veneer case in two colours, dark and light. It is optionally equipped with stands, thanks to which it looks very stylish and vintage. The design of the stand provides space for storing vinyl records, and its height, together with the speaker, is ideally designed for a seated listener.

Vintage in every note

An inch soft-dome tweeter, an 8-inch bass-reflex loaded woofer, and a 5-inch midrange driver are responsible for the sound of the system. Midrange and woofers received cones made of woven Kevlar, which Linton's progenitors could not even dream of.

As a result, the bass is deep and clear, the mids are clean and open, and a noticeable lack of highs gives the sound the smoothness, warmth and melodiousness characteristic of vintage compositions. The system is perfectly revealed on classical and jazz, but fans of heavy and dance music will not hear the expected pressure and swiftness here.

Conclusion

Wharfedale Linton will be truly appreciated by retro lovers. It is here everywhere, both in appearance and in sound. The system is also suitable for those who are tired of the excessive brightness of electronic components inherent in most modern speakers. That rare case when the price is considerable, $ 1000, but absolutely honest.
