Ni-Cd

— a type of battery used mainly in technology with high current consumption; the ability to normally carry such currents is just one of the main advantages of nickel-cadmium batteries. In addition, they are generally quite reliable, safe during overloads and tolerate low temperatures well. On the other hand, Ni-Cd batteries are not environmentally friendly; and their main disadvantage is considered to be the memory effect (decrease in capacity when charging an under-discharged battery). However, this effect can be reduced to almost zero through the use of some tricks (for example, pre-discharge, see "Functions and Capabilities") or advanced charge controllers.
