Split wrenches
— the working profile of a cutting tool is similar to the ring of a spanner key (see the relevant paragraph), from which a small part was cut out. Thanks to this, such wrenches combine the capabilities of open-end and ring wrenches: they provide higher torque and more secure grip than open-end wrenches, with less risk of breaking edges, and at the same time can be freely used with hoses and pipelines, unlike ring wrenches.
