Rail

— a kind of metal "clip" — a strip with curved edges forming a groove. In this chute, bits and end bits are fixed side-by-side by the shank. Many rails are designed to be inserted and removed in turn, so that you can only get to the item in the middle of the row by removing some of the items from one edge.
