Motors for RC models for
Motors
— separately sold motors for RC models.Nowadays, mainly electric motors are sold separately: firstly, they are used much more often, and secondly, installation and replacement of electric motors is much simpler than in the case of ICE. However, internal combustion engines for RC models can also be found in stores.
Electric motors are divided primarily into brushed and brushless. The second type is considered more advanced – such motors are more powerful, smoother and more energy efficient. On the other hand, they are noticeably more expensive than brushless ones, moreover, they require more complex control electronics, often give a delayed start and can operate unstably at low speeds. However, the last two drawbacks are absent in so-called sensored brushless motors, equipped with special rotor position sensors. Electric motors are also divided into right-hand and left-hand rotation models (clockwise and counterclockwise, respectively).
As for internal combustion engines, they most often use methyl alcohol as fuel, often with the inclusion of special additives (for example, nitromethane). Large capacity units can run on petrol with the addition of oil for two-stroke engines.
