The body in such devices plays a predominantly decorative role: it is a kind of dummy that covers the top of the frame and the nodes and mechanisms located on it. Theoretically, the model can be operated without such an addition, however, in such cases, the machine will not look like a more or less reliable copy of a real car, but like a strange cart with a set of parts. In addition, the bodywork has a very practical function: it additionally covers the elements of the model from moisture, dust and various contaminants; sometimes the degree of such protection can be quite high.
Note that different bodies can be produced for the same car, allowing you to change its appearance — and not just choose a colour and additional coloring, but give it a resemblance to different models of real cars. And vice versa: the same body can be suitable for a whole range of models in the same scale and with a similar specialization.
