— the simplest type of liquid crystal matrix is used in colour displays. They provide a relatively low but generally sufficient (especially considering the specifics of wearable devices) image quality, while they are much cheaper than more advanced technologies. They do not require backlighting — more precisely, the backlighting is part of the screen itself and turns on with it; otherwise, it would be impossible to view the image. Of the unequivocal disadvantages, it is worth noting that many TFT matrices have rather limited viewing angles; however, as technology improves, this drawback is gradually eliminated.
