Rechargeable headphone amplifiers
Rechargeable
— power from its own built-in battery makes the amplifier independent of external power sources. On the other hand, the operating time on a charge is inevitably limited, and the presence of a battery affects the weight, dimensions, and price of the device. Therefore, this option is most widespread in portable models (see "Type"); in fact, most such amplifiers are equipped with batteries. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, for portable devices, autonomy is more important than the mentioned drawbacks; secondly, when used with a smartphone or other portable gadget, such an amplifier does not "draw energy" from the gadget's battery and does not reduce its continuous operation time. However, there are few stationary solutions with built-in batteries, and these devices largely resemble portable ones: in particular, they are small in size and often imply the possibility of frequent relocation from place to place (although they are not intended for use "on the go," which distinguishes them from portable counterparts). It is also worth noting that battery power can be supplemented with the ability to operate from the mains and/or a USB port. This allows saving battery charge if there is an external power source nearby; the device is usually charged from this same source.
