Impedance adjustment

— the presence of impedance adjustment in the amplifier allows for additional manual tuning to match the input resistance of the connected headphones.

It should be noted that all amplifiers are capable, to a certain extent, of automatically adjusting to the headphone resistance without special adjustments. However, such adjustment is possible only within a relatively narrow range — for example, from 16 to 100 Ohms. If the device is to be used with a wide variety of headphones, it may be necessary to manually change the operating parameters.

This is the kind of manual adjustment referred to in this case. Typically, it takes the form of a range switch — for example, with options like "0 – 100 Ohms," "100 – 300 Ohms," and "300 – 600 Ohms." The advantage of this feature is obvious: it expands the possibilities for adjusting the device to the load characteristics. On the other hand, headphone amplifiers are usually purchased either for specific headphones or for a more or less defined and limited range of resistances. Therefore, additional adjustment makes sense mainly in high-end models, where the intended use initially requires such versatility.
