Ruby

— gemstone of the first order — the most expensive (diamonds and emeralds belong to the same category). From a chemical point of view, ruby is similar to sapphire and differs only in its characteristic colour — red or red-violet.

Such stones are found both in the form of natural minerals and in the form of artificial (synthetic) crystals. There is practically no difference in appearance and quality between them, and even when artificial rubies are used, the jewelry can be quite expensive — both because of the value of the stones themselves, and for status reasons.
