Brooches A&D

A remarkable antique Victorian Etruscan revival brooch made by established Manchester based jewellers Ollivant & Botsford in the late 19 th Century. The piece consists of a large, knot with a domed more→centre, layered in sky-blue enamel and topped with a star and pearl. Two chain festoons also hang from the bottom along with two long droppers, each fitted with thorn tassels.  Etruscan revival pieces were crafted in the late 1800s after ancient Etruscan jewellery was unearthed in tombs outside of Rome, beginning a fascination with the style and giving birth to these beautiful pieces which were crafted in the same grand and elaborate fashion.  The piece is fashioned in 18ct gold and fitted wi…
