High-performance wireless router (router) supporting 802.11b/g/n standards and five 10/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet ports. The manufacturer is positioned as a low-cost product for home use or use in a small office. The traditional difference between MikroTik routers and other models of a similar purpose is advanced configuration options. Thanks to the use of the proprietary RouterOS operating system with a Level 4 license, the device allows full control of static and dynamic routing, fine-tuning of QoS, DHСP, tunneling, IPSec encryption and other features demanded by demanding users and IT specialists.

As a hardware basis for the MikroTik hAP router, an Atheros QCA9531 network processor (small MIPS architecture) operating at a frequency of 650 MHz is used. Two built-in antennas with a gain of 1.5 dBi are capable of operating in MIMO 2x2: 2 mode, which, according to the manufacturer, can provide wireless data transfer rates up to 300 Mbps. Connection to the provider's network at speeds up to 100 Mbps is carried out through a WAN port that supports Power-over-Ethernet (PoE In) technology. A backup channel for accessing the global network can be a 3G / 4G modem connected to the USB port. Also, the router is able to work in bridge / repeater mode and perform the functions of a firewall, NAT, DHCP, FTP, file and print servers. Strong traffic encryption is possible (AES 256 + SHA-512).

Model overview based on user reviews
The MikroTik hAP router is praised for its compact dimensions and the robust capabilities of RouterOS, including mesh support. Users appreciate its reliability, with one review noting 32 days without a single disconnection for 5-8 clients, making it an optimal choice for home use. The setup process is straightforward, comparable to other popular brands, and the signal strength is adequate for a three-room apartment despite the absence of external antennas. While the LAN port speed is limited to 100 Mbps, this is seen more as a quirk than a disadvantage. The router is suitable for users who can navigate an English interface, and while advanced configurations may require some skill, the overall user experience is positive.

Cons

32 days without a single disconnection (5-8 clients). Set it and forget it. Optimal choice.

I set up this marvel at home instead of the TP-Link 842ND. The latter served faithfully for about 5 years but started losing wifi more frequently. No manipulations other than rebooting could help (re-flashing with anything didn't fix it either). I bought this little box just for testing, but I don't regret it one bit. The out-of-the-box setup (at the time of purchase, it had the latest firmware version) is no more complicated than any (D)-TP-Link. Almost any user who can read can manage it (interface in English). I was slightly surprised by the absence of external antennas, but the signal level is more than sufficient for my three-room apartment (there’s an option to increase the transmitter power if needed). More advanced configurations require some skill, but it's not a problem IMO.
Dimensions.
RouterOS with all the resulting perks.
Mesh support (I haven't tested it, because I don't have the equipment, but it's available in the firmware).
LAN port speed - 100 Mbps (this is more a quirk than a disadvantage).
