Orbital Station Dashboard

A4 Tech X7 G800V is an inexpensive yet highly functional gaming keyboard that is 300% based on the principles of a gaming device. Just look at it: design in the style of the orbital station dashboard, a bunch of decorative inserts, interchangeable red keycaps for the WASD and arrow buttons, three additional panels with programmable buttons. You will either love such a “dashboard” with all your heart, or hate it just as much, intermediate options are unlikely.

Great option for the beginner gamer

In terms of comfort, opinions were divided somewhere 50/50. On the one hand, it weighs a kilo like all-metal tournament models, but it is not as stable. Rubber pads don't really help, it can be moved by accidentally hitting it with your elbow or sleeve. The plastic feels average, and the membrane keys themselves are not as sharp as the Light Strike opto-mechanical switches on the new A4 keyboards. Therefore, it will be a good choice for a novice gamer who has switched from a regular keyboard to a gaming one, but is not sure if he needs mechanical switches, RGB lighting, or fancy software that comes with the keyboard.

22 additional keys

We have zero complaints about build quality and ergonomics. The plastic case is strong, nothing dangles, does not creak and does not try to fall off. The palm rest is also plastic, although visually it seems that it is rubber. It is a pity that it is not removable. On the surface you can see hidden drains for draining water. We did not try to pour coffee, but judging by the experience of using other A4 keyboards, there should be no problems with water protection. The only thing you will have to get used to is the block of macros, which is scattered all over the case, as if after an explosion: the G1 — G4 buttons are on the left, G5 — G10 under the space bar, and G12 and G13 are on the sides of the space bar (for the sake of them, the space had to be shortened). The set is really impressive, but you will have to pay for it with a small adaptation period. It's good that the A4 Tech X7 G800V has a built-in memory of 256 KB, which contains five game profiles with different principles for organizing macros. You can start with them, and when you get used to it, programme to suit your needs.
