A reliable, full-sized, high-speed gaming keyboard with quality membrane switches, built-in memory, water resistance, a durable case, multi-color zonal RGB LED backlighting Asus Aura Sync, and technology for registering complex multi-key combinations (N-key roll over, up to 19 simultaneous presses). It is positioned as a mid-range product of 2020, intended for demanding gamers and aspiring e-sports players.
A distinctive feature of the Asus TUF Gaming K1 keyboard is the low-noise membrane switches, providing quick response, decent durability, and low actuation force. Also notable is the convenient volume control rotary wheel and the ability to quickly disable system keys, which might interfere with gaming if pressed accidentally. Thanks to the built-in memory, the keyboard can store several user profiles and use multiple pre-recorded macros.
All additional command combinations are activated using the Fn button. It is also worth mentioning the vivid and rich backlighting of the Asus Aura Sync keys, which has 5 independent zones. Thanks to this, the symbols on the keys are easily readable both in light and in darkness. Connection to a PC is via a USB cable with a multi-layer polymer coating. Water resistance guarantees the keyboard's operability in case of small water spills (up to 300 ml).

pleasant to the touch, works great asus aura |
Better look for another keyboard, this one is too problematic. Although there is a symbolic backlight Weak paint coverage on the keys, after 1.5 years of gaming mode the keys are in terrible condition. Even cheap keyboards for 200-300 UAH were better, at least the letter paint only wore off and not the entire keys. The volume wheel broke after 5 years, used about 400-450 times in total, which is very bad (not to mention its generally silly placement for a pseudo-gaming keyboard). The stand's fastening is very weak, careless grabbing of the keyboard or bumping it will quickly cause the clips to break, because the plastic is very thin there. |
Using for more than 1.5 years Good keyboard for its price. It is durable, multifunctional, and comfortable. However, consider a number of drawbacks: key noise, not suitable key travel for everyone, gets dirty easily and is hard to clean, poor symbol readability, and software issues. Quality assembly, multifunctionality, convenience, design, price Sound, gets dirty easily and is difficult to clean. A shortcoming that doesn't bother me, but the keys are poorly distinguishable, especially without backlighting, and during the day with backlighting. Armory Crate software from ASUS does not always work correctly. |
Versatile alternative to noisy mechanical keyboards
Over the past couple of years, the Taiwanese giant Asus has been actively taking up gaming peripherals — mice, headphones, keyboards and the list goes on. Started with the flagship ROG line, then moved on to the more affordable The Ultimate Force (TUF) series. The heroine of today's review belongs to this line — a stylish and reliable gaming membrane Asus TUF Gaming K1, which is positioned as a universal alternative to noisy mechanical keyboards for gamers.
Excellent ergonomics
In terms of functionality, the model is fully consistent with its price and even gives a little more. Durability, which is the main feature of the TUF series, is manifested in several things here: an unusually thick plastic base (but you should not hit it on the table in a fit of anger) and protection from moisture. In terms of design, it turned out almost perfectly — strictly, but at the same time not boring and not pretentious. The highlight of the appearance is given by a massive volume control in the upper right corner, a pair of neat LED strips on the sides and the same neat multi-coloured backlighting of each key. However for the sake of beauty, Asus engineers took a strange step by removing the key markings altogether. The characters are illuminated from the inside, and when the backlight is turned off, all keys become barely visible. And this is the only minus of excellent ergonomics. It is clear that few players look at the keys during the game, but such membranes are often positioned as 2-in-1 options (both for games and for work), and not everyone will be able to type on this.
Removable palm rest and signature Armory utility
In other pluses of the model, we immediately write support for the proprietary Armory utility, which was previously found only in the company's premium products. As an alternative to deep customization, it is possible to record macros on the fly and save them to the keyboard's built-in memory. The detachable stand is also a very useful feature. It promotes a comfortable hand position and securely clings to the body, so you can move the keyboard without any problems.

It feels nice to the touch, and there haven't been any key jams or anything like that.
