Canon announces the launch of a new, state-of-the-art L-series professional lens, the lightweight EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM lens with image stabilization. The dust- and water-resistant EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM lens meets Canon's highest standards for precision optics and is designed specifically for photography, events, celebrities and travel when you need a lightweight, nimble lens, providing high image quality.

Together with the EF 17 – 40 mm f/4L USM and EF 70 – 200 mm f/4L USM lenses, this lens completes Canon's f/4L zoom lens series. These lightweight, fixed-aperture lenses for the entire zoom range have been designed with professional photographers in mind. 3-stop equivalent image stabilization technology allows you to shoot at slower shutter speeds, which greatly reduces camera shake and produces clearer shots.

Canon's L-series lenses are comfortable, easy-to-use, professional grade waterproof lenses that deliver superb image quality. The EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is lighter than the already popular EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM.

Image stabilizer

Image stabilization technology can greatly reduce image blur caused by camera shake during shooting. The gyroscopic sensor detects unwanted vibrations and causes the group of corrective lenses to move in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis. This allows you to adjust the light flow and restore the correct position of the image on the sensor or film.

A three-stop shutter speed allows photographers who typically shoot with a 105mm lens at a shutter speed of 1/125th of a second to get a sharp image without the noise caused by camera shake by increasing the shutter speed to 1/15th of a second. This provides ample features for shooting in low light conditions.

Excellent autofocus

The EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM uses a ring ultrasonic motor for fast and near-silent autofocus. Productivity is also increased thanks to a powerful processor and an advanced autofocus algorithm. Thanks to the precise and precise fixation of the lenses during torque, the correct focus on the object is ensured on the first attempt. Full manual focus is also possible, and the user can do this without switching the lens out of autofocus mode by simply turning the focus ring.

Constant f/4 aperture on lenses with a range of 24-105mm

The EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM lens delivers the highest image quality while maintaining the same lens aperture throughout the entire focus range. This allows you to set the exposure at maximum aperture and magnify the subject at any focal length up to 105mm without changing the shutter speed. This is the perfect solution for photographers looking for a lightweight, high zoom lens that can replace the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM. The lens is equipped with an almost perfectly round convex aperture, which allows you to create a beautiful blurred background.

Image quality

UD (Extra-Low Dispersion) elements are used to reduce the size of the lens and increase clarity throughout the image area. These elements help eliminate residual chromatic aberrations, which in turn reduce image brightness and colour reproduction. Aspherical lenses correct for spherical aberrations, delivering crisp, high-contrast images throughout the frame. By refining the Super Spectra lens coating and lens shape, Canon's developers have been able to reduce the ghosting and flare that are most common in digital cameras due to reflection from the image sensor. By increasing the absorption of light, coatings reduce the reflective effect of the lenses, resulting in brighter, sharper images in natural colours.

EOS system integration

The EF 24-105 mm f /4 L IS USM lens transmits distance information to the camera, making it compatible with the E-TTL II metering system when shooting with flash mounted on later digital cameras, such as the EOS-1 D Mark II N and EOS 5 D. When using a lens with Canon EX Speedlite series flashes, distance information is transferred to the flash algorithm, greatly improving exposure metering. To achieve the level of all-weather performance found in professional EOS-1 cameras, O-rings tightly seal lens attachment points to the camera, as well as moving parts of the lens, preventing dust and moisture from entering them.

In addition, the shape of the autofocus mode switch and the image stabilization system have been reshaped to reduce the possibility of accidentally pressing them.

The EF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM lens kit includes an EW-83 H bayonet hood and an LP 1219 soft case. Canon products are made only from lead-free glass.
