Artificial intelligence is confidently striding into the masses, opening up new horizons. The Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI flash has become the first in the line of lighting equipment that implements the principles of machine learning for the benefit of achieving the ideal angle of light diffusion.

"Smart" automation

AI is used in the model to automatically determine the best way to reflect light from the ceiling. By double tapping the camera shutter button, the flash head is directed to the subject, calculating the distance to it, and performs a similar procedure with the ceiling. Based on the data received, the flash selects the optimal angle of illumination in the reflected light. The rotation of the head is performed by a motorized drive.

Compatibility

In the semi-automatic mode, the tilt and rotation angles of the "head" are set manually. By the way, when changing the camera orientation from landscape to portrait, the flash head automatically shifts. The functionality of the model is fully revealed with Canon cameras released after the second half of 2014. Together with "old-timer" cameras, the photographer has the right to rely exclusively on the semi-automatic flash mode.

Strong positions

The model covers the most popular focal length range of 24-105 mm (in terms of full frame). In systems with complex lighting, its operation is possible only as a slave. Intuitive control and fast recharging speed (from 0.1 s in normal mode) are designed to strengthen the flash's position on the market.
