Chinese vs Global Smartphone Versions: What’s the Difference? We'll explore the dangers of skimping on a Chinese smartphone and whether it makes sense.
Model overview based on user reviews
The Google Pixel 8 Pro 128 GB / 12 GB is a highly regarded smartphone, particularly noted for its excellent camera performance, which includes features like astro-gifs and macro photos, making it one of the best among Android devices. Users appreciate its smooth and fast performance, thanks to the clean Android system and efficient processor. The phone also offers a commendable long battery life, lasting up to two days on a single charge. The pure Android experience is another highlight, providing a clean interface free from unnecessary apps. Its durable design includes water and dust resistance, adding to its robust and aesthetically pleasing build. However, some users have noted limitations in night photography and experienced software bugs, which are expected to be resolved with updates. Additionally, the screen flicker issue may not suit users with sensitive eyes, although the display is generally considered flagship-like. Overall, the Google Pixel 8 Pro offers a compelling package for those seeking a high-performance smartphone with outstanding camera capabilities.

wonderful model, really honored
31 March 2024
Even from the presentation, I was interested in the 8th lineup, but reviews held me back due to heavy criticism of the new processor. Yet, what pushed me to buy was my current Xiaomi, which couldn't handle the battery during business trips in Android Auto, just "bleeding out." So, it was decided to upgrade, and the price of 34k++ for 12/256 looked quite attractive.
Now about the phone itself:
- The artificial intelligence really leaves a positive impression, although some features are limited here. Nevertheless, you can experiment with creating wallpapers or engage Gemini.
- Circle to Search is a super feature, very helpful in everyday smartphone use.
- Secure face authentication is an absolute must-have. In twilight, it doesn't recognize the face anymore, but this limitation is manageable.
- The camera is simply gorgeous. Of course, I won't say I'm an avid phone photographer, especially being the owner of a mirrorless camera, but I have to note it.
- The smartphone's performance is very impressive; I don't play games, so I need a fast interface more.
- Pure Android - I've long thought this is exactly what I need. I'm tired of having additional apps, which are often clones of Google's.
- The screen seems flagship-like, hard to say how to evaluate it.
- As for the battery, I don't know what to say yet. I'm recharging once a day.
- Temperature sensor. Well, it's not that the phone loses much functionality without it, but I like the feature.
- The sound is cool, spacious, loud, detailed.
- Water and dust resistance, as an addition.

There are some small bugs flying by, but it's like a malfunction of Google, because they focus on this after the release of a new line

wonderful model, really honored

I am very satisfied with the phone. If you need a phone not for gaming, then probably only Samsung flagships are its competitors. I've been using it for almost two years and have no desire to switch to a new one. Everything suits me; it works smoothly, no glitches, updates come regularly.
System stability, everything works very fast.

On "pixels" since 2017. This generation already has significant technical updates for which you can buy yourself a new smartphone.
Holds for 2 days, the display outdoors, significantly improved camera performance, fast, does not heat up. 7 years of OS support. Astro-gifs, macro photos (added to photos)
Wide camera and zoom camera take pictures at night like "3 years ago".

Popular questions

Should you choose the 128 GB Pixel 8 Pro or a model with more storage?

The 128 GB Google Pixel 8 Pro version requires more careful file storage planning, as memory cards are not supported. Versions with 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB are available, so increased capacity is more practical for storing a large number of apps and 4K videos. The turquoise color is listed only for the 256 GB and 512 GB versions, while the actual storage capacity available to the user is not specified in the data.

How large and heavy is the Google Pixel 8 Pro in everyday use?

Google Pixel 8 Pro is a large and fairly heavy smartphone: it measures 162.6 × 76.5 × 8.8 mm and weighs 213 g. Its large body matches the 6.7-inch display, but it may be less comfortable to use with one hand or hold for extended periods. An expert noted that the rounded corners make it easier to grip, while one user described the phone as large and the back panel as slippery.

How well does the Pixel 8 Pro shoot with its main, ultra-wide, and zoom cameras?

Google Pixel 8 Pro is well suited for versatile shooting, but quality depends on the camera and lighting. An expert highly rated the main camera and macro photography, while the telephoto lens delivers the advertised 5x zoom; 4K at 60 fps and optical stabilization are available for video. In one reviewer's comparison, night photos were inferior to those of the iPhone 15 Pro, and one user called evening shooting with the ultra-wide and zoom cameras a weak point.

Does the Google Pixel 8 Pro battery last all day?

According to an expert’s observation, the Google Pixel 8 Pro lasts a full day of normal use without recharging. In the reviewer’s lab test, the result was about 10 hours of screen-on time, while a separate PCMark test shows 11 hours; these figures cannot be compared directly due to different methodologies. User results vary: one owner reports two days of use, another charges the phone daily, and another noted increased battery drain with a weak network signal.

Is the Google Pixel 8 Pro powerful enough for gaming and everyday tasks?

Google Pixel 8 Pro runs everyday apps quickly and launches games, but it is not designed for maximum gaming performance. The expert had no trouble running favorite games and high-resolution videos, while several users noted a smooth interface and stable operation. However, in the review, the smartphone lagged behind some competitors in demanding graphics, and machine learning functions could run slowly or fail.

How long will the Google Pixel 8 Pro receive updates?

Google Pixel 8 Pro is promised seven years of major Android updates, security updates, and Pixel Feature Drop packages. This is a promised support period, not a result confirmed by experience; the expert separately expressed doubts about whether the Tensor G3's performance will be sufficient for all future features. Long-term software support is important when buying a smartphone for several years, but it does not guarantee unchanged performance speed or access to every new feature.

How quickly does the Pixel 8 Pro charge, and is a separate adapter needed?

Google Pixel 8 Pro supports wired Power Delivery 3.0 charging up to 27W, but according to the review, a power adapter is not included. The specifications claim a 50% charge in 30 minutes, while the expert achieved 72% in the same time and a full charge in under an hour with a separate compatible adapter. Conflicting wireless charging values of 15W and 23W are given, so its maximum power cannot be determined definitively from the available data.
