— phones with a high degree of water protection that can withstand complete immersion under water. The most simple of these devices allow short-term immersion to a shallow depth, and the most resistant can withstand even high-temperature pressure washing. See "Protection Level (IP)" for details; here we note that even for models with the same marking according to the IP standard, the specific level of protection may be different. So for a full guarantee it should be clarified according to the official documentation.

Water resistance is especially important if the phone is constantly used in adverse conditions. However, this feature can also come in handy in relatively simple everyday situations — for example, when you get caught in a rain. Therefore, a high degree of protection from water is practically mandatory for shock-resistant models (see the relevant paragraph), but it can also be found in less "extreme" devices, designed mainly for regular everyday use.
