The 2026 debut in JBL's universal Tune line is a mid-range over-ear closed-back headphone. They feature thoughtful ergonomics, including a foldable design and rotatable ear cups, with a lightweight of 161 grams, ensuring comfort even during extended use. Another key feature of the model is the dual connectivity — both wired (using a USB-C port and an included adapter cable to mini-Jack (3.5 mm)) and via Bluetooth v6.0.

The latest protocol reduces interference and sound delay, enhancing overall energy efficiency compared to earlier versions. The JBL Tune 680NC headphones are equipped with 32mm dynamic drivers, licensed for Hi-Res Audio, operating in an extended frequency range from 10 to 40000 Hz, while the signature Pure Bass function delivers richer, deeper bass. Another advantage is the adaptive noise-canceling system with Smart Ambient, allowing background sounds to be heard for safety or communication.

The dual microphone system with its own noise-canceling is designed to provide high-quality voice communication and excellent speech audibility for the listener. Additional features include voice assistant support and simultaneous pairing with two devices (Multipoint), quick charging (5 minutes for 5 hours of use), and strong autonomy. The 690 mAh battery can offer 50 to 78 hours of continuous music listening or up to 45 hours of talk time.

Popular questions

How long do the JBL Tune 680NC headphones last on a single charge?

Without ANC, up to 76 hours of music playback is claimed; with noise cancellation, up to 50 hours. With regular active use, the charge should last the entire workweek, while 5 minutes plugged in provide up to 5 hours of listening without ANC.Source:SpecificationsExpert reviews

How well does the noise cancellation work?

Suitable for travel and the office, ANC noticeably muffles the rumble of traffic and some voices. It is less effective against wind and sharp high-pitched sounds, so it is not the strongest option for very noisy flights or outdoor use.Source:Expert reviews

Do they put pressure on your ears?

Weighing 161 g, the headphones do not feel heavy even during extended listening. However, they have an on-ear fit, and the clamping force is quite firm out of the box: those who dislike pressure on their ears should consider over-ear models instead.Source:SpecificationsExpert reviews

How do they sound?

The sound is warm with a noticeable emphasis on bass: electronic music, hip-hop, and pop sound rich. Vocals remain clear, but the treble lacks a bit of crispness, and the soundstage does not feel particularly wide.Source:Expert reviews

Can the JBL Tune 680NC be connected to two devices simultaneously?

You can: Multipoint allows you to connect the headphones to a laptop and phone simultaneously, for example. Switching between them works without any noticeable hassle, which is convenient for calls while working.Source:SpecificationsExpert reviews

What is the JBL Headphones app for?

In the app, you can adjust the equalizer, enable adaptive ANC and Spatial Sound, and update the firmware. It is not essential for simple listening, but it can be useful if you want to customize the bass or modes to your preferences.Source:SpecificationsExpert reviews

A New Stage of Evolution

The JBL 680NC headphones are another addition to the Tune lineup, where the signature minimalist design meets cutting-edge technology. The model largely resembles previous versions in construction, offering a comfortable fit, lightweight design, and is suitable for a diverse audience—from older children and teenagers to adult users. There is notable progress in technical features: it uses Bluetooth 6.0 with multipoint support, offers solid battery life up to 76 hours, and a quick charge provides up to 5 hours of playback in just 5 minutes. Connection to sources is possible wirelessly or via the included USB-C to 3.5mm cable. Additional advantages include support for voice control through Apple Siri and Google Assistant. In the JBL Headphones app, you can adjust the sound flexibly, switch modes, and monitor the current status of the device.

Combination of Musical Advantages

The manufacturer used modern solutions to achieve high-quality sound suitable for most users in various scenarios. The drivers support an extended frequency range from 10 to 40,000 Hz, contributing to more accurate detail transmission and complying with the Hi-Res Audio standard. The Pure Bass Sound technology is responsible for expressive bass, while Spatial Sound adds a surround sound effect. The headphones are also designed for comfortable music listening and communication in different conditions. For this purpose, an intelligent noise-canceling system, Smart Ambient, operates based on AI algorithms. Additionally, there are Ambient Aware modes available for perceiving surrounding sounds and TalkThru for convenient conversations without removing the headphones. As a result, given their price, the model stands out against competitors thanks to its combination of technologies and rich functionality, which has supported the series' popularity for many years.
