The monitor is a bomb, an armageddon... It's hard to find other words...!!! Purchased for photo editing to replace my old 21.5" Dell UltraSharp U2212HM from 2013. Immediately noticed a greater sRGB coverage range. I started seeing color shades in the photos that the old monitor didn't reproduce. Visually, the image on the monitor very closely matches the picture displayed on calibrated Mac monitors if you place them side by side for comparison. Which I did... In 2018, LG launched an interesting 27UK850-W monitor on the market, which stood out with support for the DisplayHDR 400 standard, a pair of speakers and a USB-C port for image transfer. Much of this was not necessary for the average designer (for example, USB-C to connect to a MacBook), so six months later, the Koreans released a “lightweight” version of this monitor in terms of price and characteristics — LG 27UL650.

The monitor is equipped with a 27-inch IPS-matrix of its own production with a resolution of 4K (3840x2160 pixels). It is pseudo 10-bit with a base frequency of 60 Hz. It claims 99% coverage of the "triangle" of the sRGB colour space, a response time of 5 ms (according to the GtG method), as well as support for the VESA DisplayHDR 400 standard. W-LED backlighting does without PWM throughout the entire operating range of brightness, which is great. In general, the matrix here is the same as the 27UK850-W, and the factory calibration is even better, so it is perfect for professional colour work, especially after a full calibration or at least profiling.
Versatility will not be superfluous
In general, the LG 27UL650 looks more like a general-purpose monitor than a highly specialized monitor for designers. The built-in HDR image conversion algorithm and additional gaming features like AMD FreeSync and black stabilizer will come in handy for gamers. There would still be a higher frame rate and there would be a full-fledged gaming monitor. Regarding ergonomics, the stand allows you to adjust not only the angle of inclination, but also the height. It can also be rotated to portrait mode, which will surely appeal to designers. If we return to the comparison with the older model 27UK850-W, we will see several omissions. The main thing is that HDR and FreeSync cannot work together — for this the monitor would need FreeSync 2 technology, but it is reserved for gaming displays with a completely different price.
