Matrix

Thanks to the new 24.2 megapixel sensor, it will be possible to shoot larger images, which theoretically should reduce the amount of noise at high ISOs. The sensitivity range has also been changed, now it has grown to 12800, which is one stop more than that of the D3100.

Screen

Screen size three inches, resolution 921000 pixels with a maximum viewing angle of 160 degrees. This makes the screen more informative and allows you to see the smallest details in the footage.

Bayonet

The camera uses a "Nikon F" mount. The main feature of the mount is that it does not have a mechanical “screwdriver” autofocus motor. Therefore, lenses without a motor will not be able to focus correctly in autofocus mode, and the photographer will be forced to use manual focus. Therefore, aiming at this camera, you should remember that if you want to change the lens, you will need to look for a model with a built-in motor.

Ergonomics

The camera is equipped with twenty buttons, four of which are part of the joystick, a roller with scene programs and a scroll wheel. On the back of the camera, right next to the lens, there is a programmable Fn button and a flash button. On the top of the camera there is a combined start / power button and three auxiliary buttons: video recording, info and exposure compensation. To the left of the screen there is a photo view button as well as a menu button, two zoom buttons, and a quick on-screen menu button while shooting. To the right of the screen is a scroll wheel and a Live View button. Below is a joystick with five buttons and buttons to control the operation of the shutter mode and delete pictures. In general, the location of the buttons and their number is almost identical to the D3100.

Functions

Now you can record video in Full HD format, at a speed of 25 frames / sec. The speed of continuous shooting has also increased, up to 4 frames / sec. For comparison, the D3100 has a rate of fire of 3 frames / sec. The camera does not have its own Wi-Fi module, but there is support for "WU-1" Wi-Fi modules. This significantly increases the convenience of exchanging photos and partially solves the problem with wires, now you can connect to a PC or smartphone over the air and view or transfer the footage. You should also pay attention to the built-in photo editor, it allows you to apply various kinds of photo filters, including several non-standard ones, for example: highlighting, colour sketch, colour contour. There are also some interesting effects, such as the miniature effect or the fisheye effect. The latter will be useful for those who do not have a special Fisheye lens, but want to get a photo with such an effect. The camera has a feature for correcting perspective distortion. It allows you to correct some irregularities in the photo.
