High-aperture wide-angle zoom for cropped Sony mirrorless cameras from the "six thousandth" league. At least from the start of sales, the model has been sharpened purely for Sony cameras with an APS-C sensor. It combines hitherto unseen things — a wide-angle range of focal lengths (16.5-30mm in full frame equivalent) and a fast constant aperture of f / 2.8. The optical design of the Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 RXD Di III-A has 12 elements in 10 groups.

These include two molded aspherical lenses, two low dispersion elements and one extra low dispersion element. The diaphragm of the model is 7-petal, rounded. A drive of the new type Rapid eXtra-silent Drive (RXD) helps to sharpen the width. The autofocus system is fast and virtually miss-free, perfect for shooting moving subjects or recording video. In the 11mm wide angle position, the lens focuses from a distance of 15 cm, at the maximum zoom of 20 mm — from a distance of 24 cm. With the help of the model, you can take close-ups while maintaining a wide field of view. The front wide lens is fluorine coated to eliminate contaminants, and 67mm diameter filters easily cling to it.
