Model overview based on user reviews
The WD Passport Portable is a highly reliable and compact external hard drive, praised for its affordability, quiet operation, and fast performance, especially for tasks like photo work. Users appreciate its large storage capacity options, ranging from 1TB to 5TB, which are convenient for storing extensive data. The drive is noted for its durability and consistent performance, with some users reporting over three years of continuous use without issues. However, it lacks impact and scratch protection, and some users find the included cable inconveniently short. Despite minor packaging concerns, the drive's high read and write speeds and compatibility with USB 3.0 make it a preferred choice for many. Overall, the WD Passport Portable is considered one of the best HDDs on the market, offering excellent value for its price.

File transfer speed on USB 3.0 So far, no cons have been found. |
The disk arrived in early June. It comes with a USB-B - micro USB cable (with additional power supply on micro USB, i.e., no power adapter needed), some paperwork, and the disk itself. Capacity - 3.63 TB. CrystalDiskMark 7 generally shows speeds of about 150 MB/s. In reality, series and games copy to it at speeds of about 50 MB/s, which I consider acceptable. After running Victoria, no bad blocks were found. When connected via USB 3.0, you can watch high-bitrate series without problems (which is generally typical). You can work with portable applications. I did not attempt to install games. Compactness. Terrible packaging. So far there are no other drawbacks. |
I have been using it for exactly a year. Very satisfied. And I'm sure it will last me at least 5 years (because my other WD Elements Portable 2TB drive lasted me 10 years). The read and write speed in the My Passport line is even higher than in the Elements line. It's also very nice that in the 2.5 form factor, I can use storage up to 5TB, which is very convenient and safe during power outages. Overall, in my opinion, HDDs from the brand Western Digital are the best on the market. Everything No |

The disk capacity is 1.81TB, and it came with utilities from WD. When I needed to transfer files from another laptop (file size ~75GB), the initial speed was 30-40MB/s, later there were drops to 15-20MB/s (THIS IS AT USB 2.0 SPEED!). There is a nuance when moving a single file with the initial speed, but when selecting a large number of other files, it gradually decreases to the minimum speed. Speaking of USB 3.0 performance, the speed will be much higher, about three times as much. The disk itself is quiet and inaudible during operation.
