Each Fortis Limited Edition Yuri Gagarin is equipped with Swiss-made ETA 2893-2 automatic calibre that performs 28 800 vibrations per hour and has 25 bearing jewels. Other movement characteristics include fine timing device and Incabloc shock absorber. Hands, numerals and markers are covered with luminous paint that enhances night time readability. A date display is positioned at the 3 o'clock mark. A 24-hour hand indicates the second time zone. Sachss passion for experimentation motivates him to challenge the applications of existing materials, processes and everyday objects, a theme visible throughout his artistic practice. Drawing inspiration from scientific methods and taking a fresh and unexpected approach to watch design, Sachs adopts the process and visual language of laboratories and laboratory glassware to create the 2.4ml watch.

In 1932 the so called Gents self winding hammer AS 1049 A appeared and this is now the foundation for the current Fortis 900.13.32 Orchestra a.m. Gold and Fortis 900.13.31 Orchestra p.m. Gold models. The latter is different from the a.m. model thanks to its dark anthracite, cambered dial. Just as with the Orchestra a.m. Gold, the numerals and indices are raised and 5N rose gilded.

The name Orchestra arose due to the harmony that allows all the components to play together in a symphony. Soft curves and precise edges combine to create a harmonious ensemble of nostalgic elegance. The Swiss made automatic movement ETA 2895 2 with 42 hours power reserves and 27 precious stones embody the heart of this extraordinary timepiece.

It was at the peak of his creativity in the world of classical watches, in 1957, that Fortis founder Walter Vogt died. In honour of this great pioneering spirit and his valuable legacy, Fortis has harked back to a well known model and is now bringing this to life under the name of Fortis, in a limited edition of 222 pieces. As well as the classic Terrestis Collection characteristics, the original Fortis DNA is also being incorporated here for the first time, at the end of each index, small Super Luminova dots create the highlights of the masterpiece.
