Tourbillon

— a tourbillon is a system in a mechanical watch that rotates the entire watch mechanism around a central axis during its operation. Initially, such systems appeared as a response to the imperfection of early clocks, the accuracy of which depended heavily on position in space (relative to the horizon). However, modern models do not have such a drawback, and now this function is, in fact, only an indicator of the high class of certain watches — tourbillons are expensive and require high skill of watchmakers.
