— a sight with a working part in the form of a glass window onto which a special light mark is projected.

The design of projection systems in collimators is such that the mark can be seen in different places of the window (depending on the position of the eye), but it always indicates the aiming point. And the parallax effect (discrepancy between the visible mark and the actual aiming point when the eye is in the wrong position) in such systems, unlike optical sights, is insignificantly expressed or absent altogether. At the same time, the purpose of the collimators is closer not to optics, but to a front sight with an aiming bar: they usually do not have magnification and are designed for firing from relatively close distances, including at moving targets and offhand. At the same time, such sights are much more convenient than the front sight with the whole — the arrow does not need to be combined in the field of view of the elements of the sight, it is enough to point the mark at the target.

All these advantages are especially useful in dynamic airsoft matches, although traditional pneumatics can also be equipped with collimators. At the same time, it is worth noting that rifles originally equipped with such sights are extremely rare on the market. This is due to the fact that it is more convenient for most shooters to buy weapons with scope mounts, and pick up a collimator separately, without relying on the choice of the manufacturer.
