Thanks to such grooves, the bullet flying out of the weapon twists around the longitudinal axis, which provides a stable trajectory, improves accuracy and allows you to shoot effectively at any distance at which pneumatics are generally used (of course, with a sufficient initial speed). However barrels of this type are designed mainly for bullets and do not work well with balls, but this drawback cannot be called fundamental. So the vast majority of modern air rifles are made precisely rifled.
