The stem is a part that directly connects the handlebars (located horizontally) and the steering tube (fixed in the frame and below goes into the fork). The position of the cyclist and the manoeuvrability of the machine depend on its location: for example, a low position of the stem reduces the position, improves aerodynamics, but somewhat impairs manoeuvrability, a high one — on the contrary. Thus, the adjustable stem can be adjusted as desired. On the other hand, this design is somewhat more expensive and less reliable than an unregulated one.
