Paper-like (E Ink Kaleido)

— coloured digital paper for comfortable reading of illustrated books, textbooks and electronic editions of glossy magazines. Similar reader screens are built on a substrate from a traditional black and white E Ink panel, on top of which an array of colour filters is superimposed. There are several varieties of technology used in e-books: the basic E Ink Kaleido (first edition), its improved edition Kaleido Plus and the “paper” of the Kaleido 3 generation with more saturated colours and front illumination. Paper-like displays based on Kaleido technology are capable of displaying 16 grey levels and 4096 colour shades.
