MIDI

— sound card compatibility with the MIDI standard. Usually, this means that there is at least one MIDI connector (input or output), however, in most of these models there are both types of connectors — both input and output.

MIDI itself is a special control signal format that is standard in electronic musical instruments — synthesizers, electric pianos, etc. Each MIDI signal is a kind of “note blank”: it contains information about the note number, as well as the duration, strength and speed of the key being pressed. The MIDI input is designed to connect external instruments and MIDI controllers to the sound card — for example, to record music, or to play it through a computer. The MIDI output, in turn, allows you to connect external MIDI processing equipment to the sound card — for example, a synthesizer for playback or a sequencer for recording.
