Roman

— markup based on Roman numerals — that is, numbers written as a combination of the characters I, V and X. This can be either only Roman numerals, or their combination with marks — for example, when only 3, 6, 9 and 12 hours are indicated by numbers , and the rest of the hours are marked with dashes or dots.

In general, this marking method is used less frequently than Arabic numerals, and even more so labels (see the relevant paragraphs) — and more for aesthetic than for practical reasons. Roman characters give the watch face a stylish look, but they are somewhat more difficult to read than the options mentioned above and may take some getting used to (although usually it takes a minimum of time).
