A well-equipped mid-range full-size overclocker ATX motherboard based on the 2020 AMD B550 chipset. Equipped with AMD AM4 processor socket. Works correctly with 4/6/8/12/16-core Ryzen 3000 processors with Matisse/Matisse Refresh cores (7nm) and Ryzen 4000 APUs (Renoir core, 7nm). The manufacturer is positioned as a product of the upper part of the middle price category, designed to create gaming and overclocking configurations for connecting to high-speed cable networks.
The ASRock B550 Extreme4 motherboard is equipped with a reinforced 14-phase digital power subsystem with additional aluminium heatsinks. Supports up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM (up to 4733MHz, with Extreme Memory Profiles), more than enough for all your gaming and demanding professional applications. Works seamlessly with top models of discrete graphics cards. Supports the connection of two M.2 SSDs, one of which is equipped with a heat sink and is capable of working with the PCI-E Gen 4.0 interface. For high-quality sound output, an 8-channel Realtek ALC1220 audio subsystem with improved analogue path and optical output is used. The built-in 2.5GbE Dragon RTL8125BG controller is responsible for high-speed data transfer in a cable LAN network.

New middle class
ASRock B550 Extreme4 is a mid-priced full-size ATX motherboard based on the AMD B550 chipset. Compared to the X570, it can be passively cooled without a fan and still supports the high-speed PCI-E 4.0 interface. But only one fast 4.0 M.2 x4 slot for SSD and PCI-E x16 for graphics card is available, and only when using Ryzen 3000 Matisse or upcoming 4000 Vermeer processors.
Enhanced nutrition
The ASRock B550 Extreme4 power subsystem is made 14-phase. Ten bundles of Dr.MOS mosfets, Premium 60A Power Chokes and long life solid capacitors feed the processor cores and four more — the RAM controller and the integrated graphics accelerator, if any. By the way, Ryzen 3000 Picasso APUs are not supported by the B550 chipset, only 4000 Renoir. Power is supplied to the processor through a reinforced 8 + 4-pin connector.
Gold and steel
There are four RAM slots — with a frequency of up to 4733 MHz. The Ryzen 3000 Matisse processors rarely conquer the RAM frequency above 3866 MHz, but for the 4000 Vermeer the 4000+ MHz mark will be quite affordable. And for APU Renoir, high-frequency memory is generally required. In addition, DIMM slots have gold-plated connectors inside, and PCI-E x16 connectors also have external steel reinforcement. Bundles of two AMD CrossFire video cards are supported, but not NVIDIA SLI or NVLink, while the older ASRock B550 Taichi allows you to combine even three Radeon video cards.
Super fast internet
In addition to one M.2 PCI-E 4.0 x4 solid-state drive (up to 64 Gbps), you can also install a second M.2, but only 3.0 x2 (up to 16 Gbps) or SATA3 (up to 6 Gbps). The ASRock B550 Extreme4 audio subsystem is represented by a 7.1-channel Realtek ALC1220 controller with a Nahimic software add-on. And the network subsystem is a 2.5-gigabit wired Dragon LAN (Realtek RTL8125BG) and an M.2 Key-E slot for installing a wireless Wi-Fi adapter. And of course, there was a moderate amount of ASRock Polychrome RGB luminous elements. And if you want even more backlighting, then take a closer look at the ASRock B550 PG Velocita.
