A well-balanced full-format MSI MAG motherboard, built on the AMD B550 mid-range system logic and designed to work in tandem with Ryzen processors. The board is equipped with an AMD AM4 processor socket, which supports the installation of most Ryzen processors released between 2017 and 2022, in particular Ryzen 3000/5000 models (Matisse and Vermeer), as well as Ryzen 4000G/5000G hybrid chips with integrated Vega video core (Renoir and Cezanne).

MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI is designed for use in high-performance gaming PCs equipped with Full HD and 2K monitors. Like all its MAG series brethren, the board is designed for the user to actively rely on all sorts of auto-overclocking technologies (XMP, Core Boost, etc.), or search for optimal performance manually. A digital 13-phase power converter with an enlarged VRM heatsink and modified electrical wiring is designed to work in tandem with fairly power-hungry and powerful 12/16/20-core processors of the Core i7 or Core i9 level.

In addition, we should note a printed circuit board with modified grounding of the mounting holes, Shield Frozr radiators for M.2 SSD drives, steel PCI-E Steel Armor slots, built-in tools for diagnosing system problems and the Frozr AI intelligent cooling control system. The set of ports for connecting memory is designed in an old-school way: as many as 6 slots are provided for classic SATA3 drives, while only 2 connectors are allocated for fast M.2 SSDs.

To connect RAM, there are 4 standard DIMM slots that support the installation of up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory with a fairly high clock frequency of 5100 MHz, the bandwidth of which does not reach the same level as DDR5. Considering the low final cost of the board and its focus on inexpensive and proven components, it can become a rather interesting option for building a mid-level gaming PC, which will not cost that much, but will be limited in upgrade options. It is also quite capable of playing the role of a strong foundation in an inexpensive workstation for working with copyrighted content.
