A monitor with a 24-inch screen from Asus is a mid-budget solution for 2023. The model is positioned as a gaming one, but also provides an abundance of functions to protect your eyesight. Among the latter there is the usual flicker-free backlighting and blue light filtering (which is confirmed by a TÜV Rheinland certificate). In addition, a Rest Reminder option with rest reminders and a Color Augmentation mode are announced, which calls for improving the perception of colors in users with color blindness.

The Asus VY249HGE monitor is equipped with an IPS matrix with FullHD resolution, while the pixel size is an acceptable 0.27 mm. The advantages of the picture include wide viewing angles, while contrast and brightness are at a basic level - 1000:1 and 250 nits, respectively. The gaming potential of the model is revealed by a fast response (1 ms MPRT) and a decent “Hertz” speed of 144 Hz, as well as support for AMD FreeSync Premium and the presence of additional gaming features as part of the proprietary GamePlus solution. This includes a timer, crosshairs, and FPS display. It is worth considering the limited set of connection interfaces, namely HDMI and mini-Jack output (3.5 mm).
