Super-telephoto lens from Canon's "white" guard of long-range optics for SLR cameras. The model covers a range of focal lengths from 100 to 400 mm and is intended for shooting sports events, fast-moving objects, as well as wildlife. The optical scheme of the model contains 21 elements in 16 groups, its aperture is nine-bladed. Depending on the selected focal length, the maximum aperture varies from f/4.5 at the short end to f/5.6 at the telephoto end.
Optical stabilization system is designed to compensate for the lack of aperture and prevent blurring of images during camera shake. It works in three modes, the stabilization efficiency is up to 4 stops, when you install the lens on a tripod, the stub turns off automatically. Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II USM focuses from 98 cm to the subject. Together with the lens comes a lens hood with a special compartment for filters with a diameter of 77 mm. The model is made in a case with dimensions of 94x193 mm and weighs over one and a half kilograms.
