Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX-W DDR5 is equipped with an LGA 1700 processor socket designed to accommodate 12th, 13th and 14th generation Intel Pentium, Celeron and Core processors (Alder Lake, Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh). An advanced 19-phase power subsystem with aluminium radiators and all-round cooling of power circuits ensures reliable and uninterrupted power supply even for very powerful 16-core Core i9 chips.

Due to the transition from the third generation PCI-E bus to the fourth generation, the board can work with reactive M.2 SSD drives operating at speeds of 5000 - 70000 MB/s. The board has 3 such connectors in total. Plus 6 more conventional SATA 3 connectors for installing traditional SSD and HDD drives. Unlike many earlier AORUS ELITE models with the LGA 1700 socket, this version is designed to work with advanced DDR5 RAM.

It supports installation of 4 sticks of RAM with a capacity of up to 48 GB and a maximum frequency of 8266 MHz, which gives a total of 192 GB of RAM. The graphics card slots are reinforced with fiber reinforcement and comply with PCI-E 5.0 standards. The built-in Realtek network controller has a throughput of 2.5 Gbps and boasts a built-in wireless receiver with Wi-Fi 6E.
